Here I’m with another perfume review. I first come across Maison Margiela with a sample of Sunday morning Replica sent by Space Nk. I liked it but I wasn’t sold 100%. I still went to the shop and tried all the Replica’s available in store. The one that I was then most fascinated by was By The fireplace. A perfume described as “roasting chestnuts by a fireplace in a ski chalet”.
It is an Eau the toilette but I find it quite persistent. I sprayed it on my wrist and loved how it evolved. The Strong smokiness dissolved after a few hours and what was left was this comforting sweet touch.
Definitely, a winter sent, and a very popular one among the Maison Margiela fans.
So I went ahead and a week later bought the 30ml bottle.
I love how cosy it is. Sweet, cosy, smoky, dreamy and delicious. The smoky part is definitely there so if this is something that you don’t like, then maybe this could be a big con.
Personally, I love the sweet smokiness in this perfume.
I love how Vanilla is mixed with chestnuts. The woody accords and the smokiness are definitely my things. I can’t really tell that there are berries in there too. This is the description from Maison Margiela’s website:
Remember the reassuring crackling fire on a winter morning with By The Fireplace fragrance.
Get back to this comforting memory with this woody Eau de Toilette.
Made of a warm heart of chesnut and woody accords, mixed with sweet notes of vanilla and red berries, the addictive fragrance is softened by the floral combination of orange blossom and neroli essence.
Admire the gracious dancing flames wrapped in a blanket with roasted marshmallows.
I’ve been experimenting with layering it with other fresher perfumes as well, to add some notes of freshness. and I think it works.
I definitely recommend going to a perfume store and try it before committing to a bottle.
